According to reports, singer and television personality Chad Saaiman is in hospital after being shot in an attempted hijacking on Sunday.
Chad’s record company, Stereotype Records have confirmed to Eyewitness News that the singer has undergone surgery at a Johannesburg hospital. It is understood he was shot in the stomach.
Stereotype Records spokesperson Tony Blonde said Saaiman is on a ventilator.
“A few other organs were damaged. He went into surgery and currently he is not conscious and is not breathing. We are waiting for more feedback,” he said.
According to Twitter, Lee Saaiman, Chad’s brother has also confirmed reports in an exclusive interview on BushRadio.
Lee says Chad, who recently moved to Johannesburg was a victim of a failed hijacking.
“Chad drove away when he was pulled over by hijackers and then they shot at him, he managed to get to a nearby house where he later collapsed” said Lee.

What we have learned so far in the competition.
We have learned allot about ourselves and the Band as a whole, but to summarize we have three main points. Firstly marketing and how important it is and that the Band needs to function as a business. Secondly how important each member is and what a vital role that person plays in taking the band to the next level and also what a large role a Band Manager plays in keeping the Band focused on their goals. Thirdly having the right connections and knowing the right people is a huge advantage in getting to where you want to be. In general we are very happy with our progress and how far we have come in the Durex because the first round was only the second gig as the newly formed Centrefolds, with new drummer and rhythm guitarist joining the band just a few weeks before Durex started. Further we hope to finish this competition at the top , not just to win prizes etc. but because we believe we are a great band and want to share our music with as many people as possible and we hope that this would be a stepping stone to that goal.
Future Plans
We are busy negotiating studio time at a top recording studio in S.A and we are hoping to release our EP around 1 November 2011. At this time we are focused on the Durex but future plans include large festivals and venues in Joburg and Potch as we now mainly focus on Pretoria. We believe we will make a big impact very soon as our popularity is growing at an exponential rate and we are fuelling the fire as much as we can. We believe we have a great product and the support from our fans have proven this.
